One step at a time

Caregivers and budding dancers will participate in a creative movement class designed for children 18 months and up. This class is a wonderful opportunity to have fun and interact with your child as well as foster socialization as they explore movement and music in creative ways! Children will learn basic dance steps, coordination and ballet terminology through interactive songs, stories and dance. As young dancers progress, they will develop motor skills and build spacial and body awareness. This is the perfect class for dancers who are not yet ready to separate from their caregivers, and will help them to build their self-confidence as they grow into beautiful dancers!

Ballet, Tap and Jazz classes for Young Dancers are designed to develop creativity, coordination, basic dance movement, and good dance class skills in young dancers. Dancers will learn the basics of dance and movement and gain coordination, flexibility and strength appropriate for their age. Dancers also learn how to dance with the music (quickly or slowly) and different qualities of dance movement (sharp or smooth for example). Most importantly, however, the dancers learn to enjoy dancing and moving while using their imaginations! The Ballet Class for 5-6 year olds will also prepare them to enter DCSA’s Pre-professional level zero! To learn more about our class schedule click below.

 

Classical Ballet


Classical Ballet at the Dance Center of San Antonio is open to all ages in all skillsets. Our trained ballet professionals will help guide you or your dancer to be well rounded and knowledgable in their technique. Dancers will train at the barre, center, and across the floor in various types of combinations and movements, all while still having fun! Ballet not only trains the body to have good and upright posture, but we at the Dance Center of San Antonio also believe it trains dancers to be respectful in their day to day life.

 Contemporary Dance


Contemporary Dance at the Dance Center of San Antonio is a wonderful way for you or your dancer to engage in a wide variety of movement. Our Contemporary classes have a large focus on individuality, creativity and technique, in order to shape and mold the dancer’s inner artist. These classes contain a collection of methods such as head-tail movement, modern, ballet and more, to create a true exploration of different natural energies, emotions and movement.

We come off of pointe and shuffle-flap over to Tap! Our Tap classes at the Dance Center of San Antonio are integrated with the classical broadway technique, making for a very exclusive learning environment. Not only will you learn basic to advanced tap techniques and combinations, but you will also be able to apply broadway character and technique as well. Hip Hop


 We come off pointe and leap gracefully into the world of Hip Hop dance. Popular and current music bring a new energy while the dancer experiments with a wider variety of body sharp movements, and electrifying rhythm. Kids will learn how to become fierce and powerful during the their funky moves while experiencing the world of hip hop.

Folklorico at DCSA

Experience this beautiful tradition

DCSA's Intro to Folklorico class is specially designed to engage dancers ages 3 to 6 year old! This class will focus on the foundational building blocks of folklorico dance as dancers learn the basics of footwork, arm placement, and skirt work. Dancers will also learn about the different regions/states of Mexico and their dance styles!

DCSA's Adult Beginner Folklorico class will teach students the foundations of folklorico dance, focusing on basic footwork, arm placement, skirt work! Dancer will also learn about the different regions/states of Mexico and their dance styles. All dancers ages 18 and up are welcome to join, whether you have danced when you were younger and are looking to reignite your passion or if you are just beginning your dancing journey, this class is for you!
