DCSA Summer Intensive 2025

Dancers show progress equivalent to a whole semester in just 5 weeks of DCSA Summer Intensive. Taking advantage of the whole summer of DCSA Summer Intensive could result in a year's worth of progress in a dancer's technique and artistry! Dancers will participate in a variety of classes to improve their overall technique and artistry.

Our prestigious faculty (see below) will work in detail on classical technique, pointe, pas de deux, contemporary/jazz, classical variations, repertoire, contemporary choreography, optional private classes and Pilates Reformer training. 

Special rate at Marriott Towne place Suites makes it easy and affordable for out-of-town families to stay with their dancer. The hotels also offers door-to-door transportation to / from the studio.

DCSA’s Summer Intensive offers students private lessons in 30 minute or 1 hour sessions, private Pilates Refomer sessions. It also offers a path to year-round program consideration for DCSA’s pre-professional program and CBSA2 - a professional division training program.

$20 per person, 1 hour audition, Males & Females will audition at same time. Age 8+

• Saturday, February 22: 10 am (age 8-12), 12 pm (age 13+)

• Monday, February 24: 5 pm (age 8-12), 6 pm (age 13+)

• Saturday, March 29: 10 am (age 8-12), 12 pm (age 13+)

• Monday, February 31: 5 pm (age 8-12), 6 pm (age 13+)

DCSA Pre-professional students have automatic acceptance to all studio intensives.

Video auditions are accepted at any time before May 1 deadline to submit for Summer and May 1 for Summer. Video auditions should be emailed to information@dancecenterofsanantonio.org. Age 8+

• Video auditions must include:

  • Students must include one recent photo with their audition registration: 1st arabesque.

  • A LINK to the audition video which has: 

  • At the beginning of the video, you should introduce yourself and state your age, the number of year(s) of ballet/dance study, the number of years of pointe work (if applicable), the name(s) of your current school and teacher(s), and any previous summer intensive programs, festivals and/or international ballet competitions in which you have participated.

  • Video should be a variation or solo.

  • OR Classwork is sufficient also if you do not have a solo or variation.

    • Exercises at the barre

    • Center work (including adagio, pirouettes)

    • Allegro (jumps)

    • Pointe work for dancers 12 y.o. and older (11 y.o. pointe at the barre if on pointe)

    • Younger dancers should also show flexibility

Session 1: June 2 - June 27

Session 2: June 30 - August 1

Session 3: August 4 - August 15

Registration organized by session and may allow for best cost savings, but all weeks are flexible. Pick and choose the weeks which work best for your dancer’s schedule.

Dress Code:

• Monday-Thursday: Black leotard

• Friday: Dancer's choice

Sample Vaganova Intensive Schedule:

• 10:00 am - 12:00 pm ~ Classical Ballet technique and pointe

• 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm ~ Variations

• 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm ~ Lunch

• 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm ~ Variations/Partnering

• 2:00-3:00 ~ Contemporary/Jazz

• 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm ~ Conditioning and Flexibility

• 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm ~ Private Lessons: ballet, contemporary, Pilates reformer

Monday through Thursday dancers should wear a black leotard, skirt optional. Fridays dancers are encouraged to wear a leotard of their choice. Optional: character skirt, character shoes, jazz shoes.

Results are emailed within 2 weeks from the audition and sent to the email entered at registration.

• Please have your dancer dressed when they arrive, bring only items needed for dance. We will not allow parents or public into the studio.

• If you are ill, we encourage you to stay home and recover.
